Gunmen Who Burnt Uzodinma’s House Killed 2 Security Aides

The land of the governor of the State of Imo, Hope Uzodinma, has been targeted by unknown gunmen.

Two security officers were killed before being torched by gunman who invaded Governor’s House in Omuma in the State’s Oru East Local Government Area early Saturday.

One of the killed security men, a Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps operative, has been identified.

According to a source which argued for anonymity, the fire affected cars stationed on the compound and part of the house.

The source said the departmental security guards repelled the gunmen and caused the two cops to die.

A unsubstantiated report said that two other safety men were killed at the Junction Oguta-Mgbidi, a road leading to the home of the Governor.

A house source from the government which pleaded anonymous told our representative that firemen struggled to stop the fire spreading through other areas of the house.

Our correspondent was told by another village source that the army has taken the community over.

When our correspondent approached him, Declan Emelumba, State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, confirmed the incident.

He also reported that during the attack two security men lost their lives at the governor’s house.

“That is accurate, but the knowledge is not yet clear,” the Commissioner said. There are also safety men who have not been killed. Two security men were killed at the house of the governor in service. Among the security men who died during the attack, NSCDC staff was present.
