Imo Politics: Uzodimma, Imo APC ‘Coalition’ In Fresh Romance

There is new momentum in the politics of Imo, particularly in the ruling party, with strong signals that Governor Hope Uzodimma is reaching out to a “Allied Powers” Coalition Group in Imo APC.

In 2019, the alliance or the Allies were at the forefront of the scuttle’s plans to impose its son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, for Imo governor, now a Senator, Rochas Okorocha, as his successor.

The group was led by TOE Ekechi to announce “the declaration of Imerienwe,” which targeted Okorocha’s plans to be foiled. The former Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, the former Imo State Government’s Secretary, Sir Jude Ejiogu, are other influential members of the coalition.

This declaration was a rallying point for aggravated members of Imo APC who joined forces to shake off the wish of Okorocha to instal Uche Nwosu as his successor.

The Allied forces, however, went to limbo after winning the 2019 governorate election by Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party, the PDP.

The coalition was showing signs of recovery when Ihedioha was dismissed by the Supreme Court and substituted him by APC Senator Hope Uzodinma, but worked at a low rate because Uzodimma was not a green light to come.

The Uzodimmas have been in power for fourteen months in Iimbo, and Camp Hope has been governed as members of the political system of the Governor.

But the Coalition has hope, following the surprising visit by Uzodimma to the country of TOE Ekechi, which is now a member of the North East Development Commission’s board.

Details of the visit to Ekechi of Uzodinma were undisclosed, but sources said that they are geared to the governor’s plans “to accommodate in his government other layers of interest inside the APC”

A source says, “While Uzodimma’s visit to Ekechi in Ngor Okpala is unforeseen, more is available. And several members of the Coalition seem to be joining this administration” ”

While Ekechi obtained a savoury appointment, it is not the case that a legion of members of the Coalition has seen that only the people of camp Hope in Uzodimma share the office spoils.

Uzodimma recently built political bridges, particularly within the APC, in the State to possibly consolidate its governance grip in the State in the face of opposition from different state opposition camps.
“We are waiting, a top member of the Coalition said to INNONEWS. From the East we will see the sun rise.
