On Thursday there was a panic at the Owerri-Port-Harcourt Road Secretariat, as staccato gunshots rented the air and dispatched public servants for protection.
Some Nigeria Police Force officers, NPF, told an eyewitness and stormed and whisked some people out of the Secretariat.
Mr Don Uba, a facebook user, announced that the officers have whisked away an account manager and a permanent secretary on Block 5, which houses the Committee on the Civil Service, the Local Government Service Commission and the Office for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The incident was reported by an eyewitness on his facebook account (BLCA)
The identity of those who were whisked off was not confirmed, according to him.
He partially wrote “A lot of people wondered why the police would apprehend suspected criminals, in the same way that others assumed, because they are in police jackets they might be kidnappers who cover up as police officers.” ” ” Confusion has tracked their operations as people ask why they are unnecessarily shooting when they can easily take the suspects away without causing a pandemonium.
“Fear also attacked many, as was feared, the secretariat may have been attacked by “unknown gunmen.”
“Remember the last Easter Monday, gunmen assaulted the Nigeria Correctional Center, Owerri and the command of Imo Police. The immediate past police inspector, Adamu Mohammad, accused of responsibility for the attack, without proper investigation, the forbidden Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“He was taken off last Wednesday, even though in Owerri Imo State, though he was still working” Mr. Uba wrote.
Efforts have been unsuccessful to confirm the incident by Imo State Police Commander of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP. Orlando Ikeokwu.
