Chief Emeka Akpahu, a sports and youth enthusiast, has pledged a million naira to each Imo athlete who wins a gold medal at the ongoing National Sports Festival dubbed “Edo 2020,” which began on April 2nd.
The sports philanthropist made the pledge at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, moments after felicitating with Team Imo alongside Hon. Dan Ogu, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, who left Owerri for Benin, Edo State, in high spirits for the national event on Saturday.
According to him, the gesture is part of his efforts to inspire Team Imo to win gold medals, as well as to display his respect for the Sports Commissioner, whom he describes as competent and his age-long contemporary.
