The atmosphere of sorrow and hardship that preceded the reintegration of the Igbos in Nigeria after the tragic Nigerian-Biafran war had scarcely eased when a native of Okwelle played a pivotal role in forming a remarkable musical group that gained widespread acclaim across Africa.
The foundation of the formidable ensemble, Ikenga Super Star of Africa, was laid upon Vincent Okoroego’s extraordinary guitar skills and experience, complemented by the musical prowess of the icon Osita Osadebe.
Known affectionately as Vindo and equipped with the rich Okwelle dialect, he etched the name of Okwelle into the records of African Highlife history.
